After 1.8 went up with so much fanfare (We’re lying, 1.8 was kind of a terrible release and we apologize deeply), we decided to go over the code for the gadget one more time and came up with version 1.9. We even tested this one.
There are a few differences and upgrades, some under the hood, others visible, here’s a list:
Updates:
There are other things we’re still toying around with. Tune select options? Yeah, if we can figure out the least annoying way to implement them. Bouncing the XM data through our server to *hopefully* eliminate stability issues? On the to-do list. Channel listing archiving? Maybe someday. Integrating this with weather, time, date, calendars, and a cute animatronic cat? Probably going to be a different gadget if we ever decide to do that.
If you run into an issue with the gadget, don’t panic. If you can, click the XM logo on top of the gadget and peruse the help menu for instructions. This thing isn’t foolproof yet and the occasional glitch will happen (statistically it’s gotten lower, but it’s not completely gone), instructions for resetting the gadget, restarting the sidebar, they are all in there.
Why would we want to use a gadget that can still glitch up on rare occasion?
Because it’s one of the best, most compact and easy to use XM players out there for free.

Among my most favorite entertainment gadgets on Vista SP1 64-bit. XMRadio runs continuously on my 5-speaker audio speaker system powered by Creative’s XtremeMusic sound card. Love the new “Force Focus” option added in V1.9. Hope to soon see it in the Quick Launch gadget.
My system is “littered” with the great gadgets from BuildAGadget.com
Using version 1.9 in Vista 32 bit SP1. Every time I do ANYTHING with the gadget, I get a runtime error. Line: 483, Error: Object Expected
Love this gadget. I just can’t wait for the day that I don’t get any exceptions at ANY line in the code … thank goodness we’re looking at 484, not 479 this time
Line 483 problem fixed, it was a bad function name. If you guys want, re-download the gadget and let us know if you run into any additional problems.
Using UPDATED version 1.9 in Vista 32 bit SP1. Every time I do ANYTHING with the gadget, I get a runtime error. Line: 483, Error: Object Expected.
STILL COMES UP WITH THE ERROR
Thanks! Line 483 is fixed on my end after uninstalling and installing the fixed 1.9!
Scottie, best we can say is try uninstalling / reinstalling again and restart the sidebar application itself to reset the debugger. The problem on line 483 was a function with a bad name, we’ve corrected the name of the function, so it should not be generating an error there anymore (if it was the function itself generating an error, the line number should be different).
I can log into the Vista gadget. I enter my email address and password and the screen says logging in but just stays like that. It wont log in
I have removed the gadget and re-added it
I also have a problem with the google xm radio gadget – the gadget works, but ….
I have my google bar set to floating deskbar I detach the gadgets from the toolbar and place them on my screen where I want them
if I reboot my computer, the xm radio gadget will not start unless I attach the gadget to the toolbar. Then I can detach it again
I would prefer the vista gadget if I can get it to work. Any suggestions?
Eric, try restarting the Vista Sidebar by right-clicking the icon in the lower right hand side and selecting Exit. Then hit start, type in “Windows Sidebar” and select the program of the same name. That should reset any lockdowns that may have ocurred and let you log in. The Google version problem is a bit odd, but we need to make serious updates to that version at some point.
i have tried that – no luck
ive even reboot after exiting
Ive also uninstalled the gadget and deleted the .xml file
still no luck
Any other suggestions?
Eric, that is definitely odd. At this point, try turning the UAC off in the control panel, turn on or off Windows Defender and Windows Firewall just in case they are affecting the sidebar.
Go to Internet Explorer->Tools->Internet Options->Advanced->Security->”Do not save encrypted pages to disk”. Make sure that is not checked.
UAC is already turned off, so is the firewall and defender
and I checked in IE (IE7) and Do not save is not checked
I am having the exact same problem as Eric and have tried all of the above and still cannot get the gadget to login. I logged into XMRadio online to make sure my username and password was correct and it is.
I just installed the update on my 32bit Vista machine, and the login button does not display. It worked in the previous version, but not this one. Restarted, removed, tried all the previous suggestions.
Ken, try restarting the sidebar application itself, that might help. This is the first time we’ve ever heard of a missing login button, though it may be possible that it either got pushed down or maybe the graphic isn’t loading right, do you get a pointer icon by mousing over the gadget where the button should be?
Nope. I’d done all the suggested fixes short of wiping my machine. Restarted the gadget, the sidebar itself, removed the gadget, added it again, removed the user data, all that good stuff.
Ken, are you using a higher DPI in your display settings? If so, that might push the button down out of sight.
Can we get another new channel list? Channel 27 has become Paul McCartney and Channel 31 and Channel 98 don’t work (think I caught them all…)
Oh, Channel 55 is missing the MARGARITAVILLE in Radio Margaritaville.
Thanks,
JB
No, I’m using the same settings that came with my Acer laptop from the factory. I’ll change the DPI and see if that helps.
Going back, I do not get a pointer icon when I hover over where the login button should be. Also, changing the DPI didn’t do anything. I’m beginning to think something on my machine is preventing it. I also don’t know what else to do short of wiping. The gadget works great on my desktop though. No problems whatsoever.
Jake, Got a new channel list up. 27 is still referred to as “The Bridge” on the site, but the preview works. We’ll change it if XM does. Channel 55 has been corrected, several other channels were axed from XM’s lineup. Just go into the settings panel on the gadget and click the channel list update button and everything should show up.
Ken, This is definitely one of the oddest problems we’ve ever seen with the gadget. It could very well be something on your computer preventing the button from showing up, though we have no idea what program could possibly have it out for a JavaScript button unless it was a really overzealous anti-virus or firewall program. You may just need to do some fiddling, if you’re running with the default setup on your laptop, try heading into msconfig and shutting down some startup programs, then reboot and try it out again. Good luck!
JavaScript eh? I’m currently taking a class that programs in Java, and oddly enough, the gadget stopped working after I installed the latest Java SDK and netbeans. Another thing that stumps me is, I have the same Java SDK and netbeans on my desktop machine, and it runs perfectly fine on it. Thanks for the help.
I have the same problem as Eric and Jeff. IT used to work fine and then just stopped working one day and will not log in since, no matter what I try. Do you have any fix for this yet?
John, we’re still trying to figure out what’s causing this problem. Have you tried restarting the sidebar application itself?
I had been having problems with Vista Home Premium and the Gadget, and finally isolated it to Zone Alarm.
I believe I can work around this by entering the url the gadget uses to access XM into the Zone Alarm Firewall: Trusted sites list.
Does the gadget use the same url as does the XM web site player?
Thanks for help!
Peter
It does. If it’s possible, add the xmradio.com domain to Zone Alarm and see if that works. If you have to be more specific, http://xmro.xmradio.com/xstream/index.jsp is part of it. Let us know if you need any more URLs.
About 2 4 days ago, the XM Radio gadget stopped working. It was playing a stream one second, then dead the next. It hasn’t worked since. I’ve uninstalled my most recent applications, but still nothing. Interestingly, I can’t get the XM radio web player to work either, so it may be something external to the gadget. WMP works fine. Any suggestions?
Spooky, if the web player isn’t working, odds are that is the problem with the gadget as well. Have you installed any new software lately? Any new codecs, firewalls, anti-virus software, etc? Anything that could possibly affect a streaming program? Also try clearing out the cookies and cache out of IE just in case.
Have you guys considered a favorite artist list? When a song comes up on any channel, the gadget could beep or ans show a little message that says “click here to tune to channel XX”. That would be sweet. My buddy has an XM Roady in his car that does that. I think it would be a cool feature for the gadget. I suppose there would be a lot of polling involved but hey I can dream right?
Were you able to find anything on on why the logging in bar just stays blue and the gadget doesnt log in?
sine Ive posted, I have re-installed java, re-registered some dlls, turned off the sidebar, turned the sidebar back on – still cant get past Logging in
Eric, we’re still at a loss as to why it’s happening. It has to be something preventing the information from getting out or back in, but what, is the million dollar question. Take another peek at any firewalls, anti-virus, anything currently running in the services when Windows starts. It’s a big list, but you might find the answer in there or maybe even the IE security settings.
I just tried installing IE8, and that didnt help
no firewall turned on and turned off my anti virus software (nod32)
windows defender is also disabled
Im at a loss but will keep searching. Hopefully you guys will find a solution shortly
i installed the XM gadget. i cant get it to work. everything seems to be running fine, jsut no sound at all. tried everything. please help
Brent, Do you get sound if you go to xmradio.com and try their online player? If not, it may be a codec issue, if yes, then something is blocking either the internal media player or the internet traffic to the site. We unfortunately haven’t come up with a tried and true no sound solution, but the best place to start is with any firewalls, anti-virus programs, Windows Firewall, and Windows Defender on the system. It may take some toggling on and off to see if these programs are affecting the gadget. Beyond that, try restarting the sidebar application itself a couple times, sometimes that helps. We wish we had more info here, but these issues tend not to be the same from system to system and we haven’t been able to reproduce the bug here as of yet.
I am also having the same problem Eric and Jeff are having above. I cannot log in with version 1.9. I’ve tried all your suggestions. My wife’s computer is using 1.8 without any problems. Is there someplace I can download an older version to see if that helps?
Matt, we don’t have a repository for the older versions, however, you could grab the code form your wife’s computer by going in under C: -> Users -> [Her User Name] -> AppData -> Local -> Microsoft -> Windows Sidebar -> Gadgets, then copy the XMOnlineRadio.gadget folder onto a thumb drive or something and add it to the same folder on your computer, it should show up when you go into add it. Seems kind of roundabout, but it’ll at least let you see if you can login using the older version or if there’s something else at work that’s preventing the login.
Thanks. I tried it, but it didn’t help. I still couldn’t login. My weather gadget works, so I know Windows Sidebar can access the internet. I can access and run XM Radio Online, so I know my account works. It’s all very frustrating.
Ok…sounds like I am having similar issues: the preview does not work, yet I have the box checked. My favorites will not save to the favorite list, when I FAV them the button is greyed out, but they dont appear on the list, and I cant favorite them again. I have cleared cache, cookies, reinstalled the gadget, cleared the data from appdata—username— etc. Sometimes the sound does not work, I have to press stop then play multiple times, yet other streaming programs and WMP with XM works perfectly.
I was very happy with version 1.5ish, worked like a charm. Thanks for any help you can provide!
PLEASE fix the problem we are describing. I have friends who are using 1.9 and it is way better than previous versions but there are obviously a lot of us with this issue and you guys really need to fix it.
Trey, if we can figure out why certain people can’t login, we’ll fix it. Until then, we’re gathering data, trying to pinpoint which system program or setting is blocking the login. This may be an issue of code, but we haven’t been able to recreate the problem in-house thus far to study it in detail. We’re doing what we can with what we have.
Your gadgets just get better! ![]()
I’ve had to switch computers and am rebuilding.
I have a couple issues… one minor thing is that after adding the XM gadget and logging in, it didn’t pull my favorites from XM (was it supposed to?). Other channel lists, all works well. The other (suggestion) item is that I’m wondering if XM traffic volume can be logged somehow? Maybe so we can click something in your gadget to show total usage since a date/time?(even if just by gadget play/stop/stream-quality estimate?) Those of us on a quota need to ration ourselves sometimes… like, if we’ve been downloading a lot of gadgets
. Looking online at the chatrer, I can’t tell what the stream rates are anymore… 32, 64, 128? Maybe your gadget could indicate?
RD, we’ll add your suggestions to the list and consider them for future updates. Not sure if you’re going to want to rely on the gadget to make sure you’re not going over quota (we can only track time locally unless XM is providing the info on their player, internet usage is relative and would require an interop library to be installed with the gadget which is possible, but used mainly for reporting statistics back). We’re not sure anyone knows exactly what stream rate high and low is set to these days. We’ll keep an eye out and see if we can amend the settings panel with the rates once we know for certain what they are. On the favorites, if the file was deleted, the favorites were reset. One of these days we’re going to include the XM-Sync service into the gadget and let people save their favorites and settings on server for just such an occasion.
Just installed the XM gadget and it works great. However, it remembers my username but I have to re-enter my password every time I log in. Am I missing something?
I love your gadget.
However although it works great on my desktop computer, I can’t get it to work on my laptop.
After installing the gadget and logging in I get the following runtime error in line 501:
“‘System.Gadget.document.getElementMyID(…)’ is null or not an object”
AFter this it looks like normal but if I select any channel I don’t hear anything. I tried restarting the sidepanel resetting my modem and stuff like that but I can’t get it to work. (At the same time it does work on my desktop.)
The laptop runs 32bit Vista Business.
How do you tell what version of the gadget you are running? When I click about, there is no version number listed.
Second, could a lot of the problems people are having due tot he reconfiguration of XMRO? They changed a bunch of stuff including reducing bit stream, except for a certain number of situations. A lot of people had trouble even getting into the XM player online. Some had to reinitialize there accounts with XM. Not saying this is the issue, but I know XM did a lot of under the hood stuff to the stream.
Anyway, great gadget and if you could let me know how to tell what version I have, that would be great. Thanks.
Hey second quick question. If we are supposed to get the high quality 128 bit stream from XMRO, will it come through that way via the Gadget? Thanks.
Gator5000e, The about tab under the settings panel should be displaying a version… If not, then start to add a gadget to the sidebar, then find the XM gadget, click it, then click the “More details” button on the bottom of the Gadget Gallery window and it should show the version at the end of the name.
The various issues we’ve had with the gadget have stemmed from lots of different things over time, lockups tend to be caused by security issues on the system, not sure where the login problems are coming from, but yes, the gadget is extremely susceptible to XMRO’s configuration.
On the 128k stream, no guarantees, but it should come through in the gadget.
Thanks. I will try that.
I am not having any luck. Even when I install the new version (and I am not even sure I am installing it correctly), it does not show a version number. If I do the add a gadget thru the side bar, the version in the gallery is 1.0.3 dated October 3, 2008. So maybe I am not jsut doing this correctly. Thanks.
Gator5000e, Live.com gallery should be the 1.9 version. We just double-checked it. Maybe try removing the gadget completely and re-download it to see if it’s just a glitch.
Sorry, I guess I should have been clearer. I am using Google Desktop on XP, not Vista. In the Google Add Gadgets window, the version is 1.0.3 dated October 2008. Is that the latest version for XP?
Gator5000e, ahh, that makes more sense. Yes, 1.3 is the latest version of that gadget.
Version 1.9 works great for me.
Any chance of getting a Sirius version of the XM gadget? I subscribe to both Sirius and XM (compliments of two different car manufactures), and would like some of the Sirius only channels via the web.
The only Sirius gadgets I have found just launch the Sirius web-site. Your XM gadget is definitely superior to any Sirius gadget out there.
Ken, it’s something we’ve kept an eye on doing for quite some time, but to tell the truth, Sirius just doesn’t make it anywhere close to easy to access their stream. We’re hoping things improve as the merger continues though.
I have run XM for several months with no issues until now. I cannot get any sound at all from XM, other sound applications on sidebar work just fine. I uninstalled and re-downloaded and installed XM again and still no sound. I have also checked my onboard sound settings as well as the mixer. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks
Forgot to mention I am running the latest XM and Vista Ultimate 64bit.
Jeff, Odds are more likely that it’s a security error than a sound issue. Try restarting the sidebar application itself, disable or enable Windows Defender, check your firewall for any errors in the logs. We’ve been battling problems like this since we built the gadget and it seems that the cause for no sound issues is different for everyone. But try the above, try anything else inside the gadget help flyout (XM logo on the top of the gadget) and let us know if nothing else works and we’ll see what we can do from there.
Just out of curiosity, does this gadget pull the 128k stream that the new “Premium” XM Radio Online is publishing?
EJ, it should, though we haven’t been able to confirm it thus far. Since the stream URL is coming from XM’s player though, there should be a pretty high chance of it if XM has switched the high streaming mode to 128k.
Hey everyone, If you click play on your xm gadget similar to the issue Jeff G is having you may need to add the xm online streaming for $2.99 extra a month. I had the same issue around the same time and thought it was an issue with the sidebar gadget. However, I logged into my xm account and it asked me to add the package if I wanted to listen online. After calling XM I was told that they just switched their plans again to offer 128kb streaming and the online listening was only free if you pre pay for 6 months, 1 year or lifetime. I added it back to my package and sure enough the gadget works. Doesn’t sound like the 128k from the online radio which I hope will be corrected in a new build but hey it works!! hope this helps!
Is there a way to lock open the drop down Channels/Favorites list so I can see what is playing on my other favorite channels? I am running 1.03 on XP/Google desktop. Thanks.
And BTW, it appears to stream the 128 bit stream.
Mark, you used to be able to do that in an older version of Google Desktop, but these days it has to be coded in. At some point we need to go over the Google version of the XM gadget anyways and do some major code cleanup, so we’ll definitely keep this in mind when we get underway on that.
I am still unable to use my XM sidebar gadget. I have tried all the suggestions above but nothing works. Like a few others who have posted here I get as far as the log in and it just hangs up there. It never connects.
I updated from the previous version because the same thing happened and it never got fixed so I hoped the newer version would fix the issues but they are still there.
Michele, Have you checked your account on XM? Some people have had problems stemming from the recent account upgrades. Beyond that, part of the process is fiddling with stuff that might be preventing the gadget from getting out. Restart the sidebar program itself, delete the data file, check for possible anti-virus or firewall programs that could be preventing traffic. Disable Windows Defender just in case. Honestly at this point it could be quite a few things, but it’s definitely best to check the site first and make sure everything is in order account wise.
I did try everything you suggested. I have not tried contacting XM but I have no trouble streaming from their site. I liked your gadget because it didn’t time out. I have been having the problems since back in Sept. Way before all the account upgrades.
Great gadget! I’m having a minor issue with it, however, on the Windows 7 RC — the gadget disappears when I show the desktop (either with the Windows-D key combo or by clicking the “peek” button on the right edge of the taskbar). If I just “peek” at the desktop by hovering the mouse pointer over the “peek” button” at the right edge of the taskbar, it shows up fine and I can see what is playing…but if I click the button to interact with the gadget, it disappears. I can get it to show up again by restoring and then minimizing any running application, but that is a minor PITA.
All other gadgets (including your System Monitor) show up properly on the desktop at all times; only the XM gadget disappears as described.
Bill, that is really odd. We’ll test it out on our Windows 7 system here and see if we can replicate the problem. Windows 7 is nice, but they still aren’t quite rendering some of the gadgets correctly. Hopefully this is just a small fix like the flyout focus option that can be implemented quickly. Thanks for the heads up.
If you have problems with this gadget, the first thing you should do is go to http://www.xmradio.com, log in with your username and password, and run XM’s online app. If that doesn’t work 100% correctly, the problem is probably with your computer’s configuration, not with this gadget.
Before I figured that out I spent too much time trying to get this gadget to work — installing, uninstalling, reinstalling, rebooting, resetting, etc.
Then I figured out that XM’s online app worked correctly in my admin account, but not in my limited user account — no sound in the limited user account. That was the same problem I had been trying to fix with this gadget!
Workaround: In your limited user account, instead of having sidebar start up automatically, start it manually. Go to Program Files –> Windows Sidebar. Right click sidebar.exe. Select “run as administrator.” It works for me.
Perhaps the developers of this gadget can figure out the real problem and fix it.
Xm/Sirius added a lot channels in the last few days online. Can we get a new channel list??
Thanks
Jake, list has been updated with the new channels.
Win 7 RC candidtae…cant get a login with the gadget…XMRO site works fne…but gadget is not happy and won login using same info….Clean install of win7, so i dont knwo where else to check…i’ve removed the xml files and readded the gadget but same issues…next steps? or what inof do you need to help me debug?
Great/ Now I get a “CONNECTION ERROR” every time I try to login. I can get in fine to XMs online player at xmradio.com. Anyone else having the connection error with the gadget? I have tried to re-add it to to no avail.
Vista Home Ultimate SP1. No errors, can log in fine, and it seems to update what’s playing but there’s just no sound – also flickering of the current song title and “Getting Info.” Weird thing is, it works fine when logged on as an admin. Also tried uninstall and removal of xml file.
Vista SP2… Was having same issue of no sound. Then, was unable to login. Finally exited Sidebar & restarted. It then let me log in (finally) although it did give me a javascript error. But now audio is fine.
Well add a co-worker and I to the list… neither of us can login now, via the Gadget… when we try we get a message Invalid/Email Address / Password… Both of us can login via the web at XM and listen… Running Windows 7 and Windows Vista SP2… Started yesterday for both, hmm 6/1. My thought is that it is something on XM side not allowing connections via Gadgets.. BTW neither of us signed up for the Premium online… XM said that we wouldn’t have to pay anything until our 1 year contracts come up.
Frank, we just logged in on a newly upgraded account on our gadget. Granted it’s on Vista, but this might actually be an XM issue. If the account isn’t upgraded, XM usually returns back something that gets interpreted as a bad password. Not sure if that effects the gadget specifically, we would have to analyze the exact data being sent back from XM, but there might be some account settings somewhere that might work. With the gadget going down on two different operating systems, it seems more like XM has something going on affecting specific accounts of a particular type.
Update… XM must have been having some system changes over the last two days… We can both login now via the Gadget… Love it. Keep up the good work.
I was seeing the “Getting Info” problem that others reported. If I went in via Explorer to my App Data folders and deleted the XM-Online-Radio-Data.xml the problem continued. Today, I found that if I clicked on the gadget options, then Help, and opened the Data folder w/in the app and removed the 3 files everything started working just fine.
Was having same issue of no sound. vista64x sp1.
exited Sidebar and removal of xml file, & restarted, updated codecs, to no avail.
C00D11BB – resolve protocol error from Windows Media Player..found this god send and it worked , thought i would share
I recently subscribed to xm online radio and also cannot log into the gadget. I understand that a different account may be required to log in, but I would like to know what kind of account before I upgrade, and if it will really work.
Roxanne, the only account needed to access the gadget should be an upgraded online account, package shouldn’t matter. The account can be standalone or attached to a regular account, as long as you can login to XM’s website player, you should be able to login through the gadget.
Gogalyboo, thank you so much for that fix. Not only would this gadget not work, but the player on the website wouldn’t either. This fixed both! Props!
Just a suggestion: Would it be possible to add an option to change the size of the player. I am currently running Windows 7 RC. I am not sure if this is a glitch, but all my other gadgets are much larger now it appears compared to the player, which I can barely see from a distance. Keep up the good work, I really like the player.
Scott, we’ll make a note of it. Though the text sizes might not scale up with the rest of the gadgets even at a larger size due to the way the gadget is built if you’re using a higher DPI settings to make them bigger or seem bigger. We’ll keep it in mind for future updates though.
I too am having Bill’s problem posted on 5/17. Easy to duplicate on Windows 7 RC1:
install the gadget on the desktop
click the show desktop button
gadget disappears.
Otherwise, this is an EXCELLENT application. Great work guys.
I downloaded the new version gadget ! But when I tried to log in it just stay on logging in ! Things I V’e tried ! reloaded gadget re-started side bar rebotted my pc and still can’t get it to work !
In Windows 7, if you click the ’show desktop’ button, all (microsoft) gadgets remain visible except xm online radio. is there a way to have xm not disappear when this gets hit?
I too am having the problem with Windows 7 where clicking “show desktop” makes the gadget disappear. What is the status on this issue? Thanks.
Mike, We apologize for the troubles you are having. We are aware of the problem and are working to fix it. We will post an update when we have a patch ready.
Annoying. Just downloaded gadget…login will not work. Like others recently posted here it just says “loggin in” and won’t do anything. Recently installed Win7. My xm account does have internet radio setup.
Hi Dan, Sorry for the issues you’re having. Try uninstalling the gadget, restarting the sidebar, and then reinstalling. Let us know if that doesn’t fix the problem and we can look into it further.
Am running Windows 7 x64 Professional with XMRadio 1.0 gadget. As of 18-Nov-09, I am no longer able to sign in to XMRadio via the gadget. I can sign in and listen to XMRadio on the XM Radio website.
I have reset the gadget, totally removed/re-installed the gadget, rebooted a couple of times, with no success. It keeps returning as invalid email or password.
I did upgrade from MS Office 2007 to MS Office 2010 beta yesterday, if that makes a difference.
I installed the player two days ago and it worked great. I have Windows 7. This morning I did not get any sound. I followed your FAQ and restarted, reinstalled and now I can’t login to XM. My XM account is fine as I can use IE to listen but would rather use this gadget.
Don, try out the instructions at this link: http://www.eggheadcafe.com/tutorials/aspnet/187cb72b-8da5-4dd9-b061-52e6d6304bee/c00d11bb–resolve-protoc.aspx
Tom, if it’s coming back as invalid, that’s coming from XM. I remember that something similar happened like this before when the companies merged, try taking a look into your XMRO online account settings and make sure everything is registered properly. If it’s all working fine, we’ll have to take a look back through the support comments to see if there’s anything else to try.
Nov 20 around 2-3 AM I was running into an issue where music was playing but couldn’t change channels. After closing/opening gadget it would load channels/show text but not play.
When I later logged out and tried to log back in to the gadget the following day it is also giving me the log in incorrect message. But my XMOnline works just fine in their flash player and can listen there.
Laronvas, try restarting your sidebar and see if that helps.
I have checked my account and all the settings are correct. I even tried changing the password and still the XMRadio gadget will not login. It returns “Invalid E-Mail Address / Password”. But I know they are correct.
I’m having the exact same problem as Laronvas – text for the songs, but nothing plays. When I uninstall/reinstall and put in my userID / passwword, I receive a login incorrect message. XMOnline works fine.
Thanks.
Hello
My XM Radio gadget stopped working today as well. Same problem listed above. Channel lists worked fine but wouldn’t play music. I tried resetting the standings and now it wont let me login with my credentials. I can listen to XM Radio online just fine over their website but after using the gadget – its just a pain. Please fix gadget!!
I am having the same problem. It worked great yestarday, will not connect today. says my login / password is incorrect. I have removed and reinstalled the gadget and reset the settings. xm online works with the web browser though.
Hey guys, we identified the problem. XM changed all their site links around and that has led to all 3rd party players getting disabled.
We’re working on a fix right now, hopefully should be out soon.
Thanks for quickly finding the issue, I HATE the online web player due to the timeout feature and am glad you can fix your gadget.
Thank heavens!
The web player is so cumbersome. The XM radio gadget is my fav gadget ever.
Just a thing I noticed while messing with it today.
If you have username/password entered…then you double click XM-Online-Radio-Data.xml file…after closing the webpage that IE opens your gadget becomes logged in…and you get an accurate and properly updating channel/song list. However play still doesn’t actually connect and stream the music.
@The Staff. Kick ass product. Hope you get it working again. Moreover, freaking Sirius-XM should buy this and give it out to online subscribers; it is far superior to their web interface. Lastly, put a new post on your blog about this issue so peeps are informed. OK. Keep it real!! Scumbag OUT!!
Laronvas, yeah, once we got the login working we realized that they changed almost all of their URLs over as well.
Scumbag_Deluxxx, thanks! We’re planning to get an update out tonight, there will be a blog post for it, just taking a little time to do some re-writing and testing to make sure everything is working okay.
Love the gadget by the way.
