    Nitpicks:

Lot of ‘white’ in the Market Monitor gadget display.

How about ‘Market Monitor’ line in Light blue, and the stock/indices/commodities names in yellow/gold?

I’d rather have the % change under the name and the decimal change under the current value.

Please i m from India and eager to have an market moniter which also shows “Indian Stocks” i.e. BSE and NSE Stocks

  3. Mark Says:

one feature you badly badly need is to display the quote to three decimal points. In Australia many of the smaller stocks are quoted in either 1/2c or 1/10c increments.

    Fantastic product.

  4. Stephen Says:

Is there a way to add other countries like Canada? I want to see the indicies for Canada but cannot find them under US.

  5. Jim Bopp Says:

I love this gadget! Has been working great, but now it just says “loading”. I have restarted sidebar and computer. No luck!

  6. The Staff Says:

Jim, the gadget is currently down for server-side maintenance. We should have a post up soon explaining what’s going on.

  7. Justin Says:

Great gadget! Works great & shows all the info I need at a glance, thanks!

  8. Inspector Says:

Buggy as hell in Vista. Just downloaded 1.5, still staring at the circular “loading” icon.

  9. Sheldon Says:

like many here…I echo the praise for the “market monitor”. what a great gadget! The improvements to the gadget mentioned here i also believe will be great additions to an already rich feature set. although, like “Jim Bopp Says:” i also have the same issue…”Has been working great, but now it just says “loading”. I have restarted sidebar and computer. No luck!” I went to your support page and performed all the tasks in your “What are the top things to try first?” list, but No Joy!

Any update as to how to resolve our issue of internet traffic being stopped by the sidebar or market monitor gadget?

Thanks in advance for your consideration…

I had this working for a week, but it hasn’t worked now for a week.

Does anyone else have this working???

  11. The Staff Says:

Inspector, sorry about that, we had a server issue this past weekend that kept the gadget from loading. It should be working now.

  12. Dean Says:

Hi, I just re-added your gadget and I am still seeing “Loading…”. I love your gadget when it is working and appreciate all you do for us Market Monitor Users. Do you have a time frame when this will be up and running again?

  13. Rick Says:

I removed it a while ago now since it was just doing “loading…” tried it again, and still same thing. Atleast it is not just me. Too bad, it seemed like a good App.

  14. CC Says:

echoing the same problem, just says loading. so i removed the app, uninstalled it and re-installed it… so, i had to re-add my stocks, but when i used to interface to add a stock, i choose the country, then the 1st few letters, and it searches and says “searching” endlessly (when i know that in the past, it found those stocks NP).

server still down? can u just give us an udpate so we know what’s going on please?

  15. steve Says:

Same problem here, no amount of re-installing will fix this ‘loading…’ problem. Looks like this has been a problem for months as well with very few attempts to fix it.

This was working very well and is about the only gadget with all the features I need.

Would be a great gadget if they managed to get it working reliably!!!!

  16. The Staff Says:

    Hi Steve,

Apologies for the problems that you are having. What is happening is our data sourcing is changing without any warning. This requires us to go back and change the code to accomodate the new sourcing. It is usually a quick fix but does happen periodically. We are aware of the problem and are working to fix it. Should be back up before week’s end. We are also looking at a full overhaul of the gadget which would use different, more reliable sourcing.

  17. steve Says:

That’s great, thanks for the reply. Look forward to seeing it back up soon!!

    steve

  18. Dean Says:

Thank you for fixing the Market Monitor. I appreciate all your hard work!

  19. Dean Says:

Looks like it has gone down again? Are you still looking for a more stable source?

  20. The Staff Says:

Dean, it’s working, just click around the top tabs a few times.

  21. Dick Says:

How can I sort the symbols?

  22. The Staff Says:

Dick, you can reorder the stocks in the gadget by dragging and reordering.

  23. Andrew Says:

Are the gold and copper futures in real time, or are they 15 minutes delayed?

  24. The Staff Says:

Andrew, assume a 15 minute delay as the values are cached on server.

  25. Andrew Says:

    Thanks Staff!
As well, I had thought the quotes would auto update, but I have to press refresh current tab to do so. Is this the correct functionality, or is my install a bit buggy?
    Cheers,
    Andrew

  26. The Staff Says:

Andrew, it could just be a bit buggy with the timers. Restarting the sidebar can sometimes help.

  27. Andrew Says:

    Correct, works now.
    Cheers.

  28. RpD Says:

Sometime end of last week (first week of March 2010), Market Monitor stopped updating. I clicked the Stocks page, like I’ve usually done to flip away/back to Favorites to get past that update bug, but Stocks (and other pages) would update either.
Since then, I’ve uninstalled Market Monitor, deleted the data directory, shut off my firewall/antivirus programs, rebooted, restarted sidebar, and reinstalled Market Monitor.
Now, it won’t even find a Stock when I try adding one… and if I click on the tiny ‘View Current News’ icon, I get an error that I’m “Forbidden, You don’t have permission to access /Gadgets/Core/MM/News/Landing.php on this server. Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request. Apache/2.2.14 (Unix) mod_ssl/2.2.14 OpenSSL/0.9.8i DAV/2 mod_auth_passthrough/2.1 mod_bwlimited/1.4 FrontPage/5.0.2.2635 Server at http://www.buildagadget.com Port 80″
My Internet access is working fine.

  29. RpD Says:

I meant “…but Stocks (and other pages) would NOT update either.”

  30. The Staff Says:

RpD, we’re working on getting the scripts up and running again, they were turned off temporarily for the server migration but haven’t been turned back on since (to make sure everything was stable enough as the MM scripts can sometimes impact server load). They should be up and running again sometime in the next 24-48 hours.

  31. Ptong Says:

Market Monitor is note linking to the market, cant get any quotes. I have tried everything you listed for window 7.

  32. CL Says:

Hi, is there any update regarding your script being running again? My MM is still not working at this moment, it just keeps on saying “Loading”. Thanks.

  33. The Staff Says:

CL, check out the front page of the blog we have a post at the top with the gadget status.
