Market Monitor Down For Extended Maintenance

Posted in Gadgets, Market Monitor

Yesterday our server ran into a small problem and we’ve since rectified most of the issues. For the interim, we’re taking the Market Monitor down for maintenance and upgrades.

We apologize for the gap in service and should have a better, more stable model of this gadget ready to go sometime soon. Thank you for your patience.

Update: The gadget is temporarily down again. We are working to fix the problem and hope to have it back up this week. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Any word on the progress of the upgrade? I’m hooked to MM and I can’t live without it! — Thanks!

Any words on the status of this issue? I’ve been using MM since the first release and I find it strange that almost a month has gone by for the extended maintenance and no words as to the status…

    So, what’s the status?

  3. The Staff Says:

Steven, the gadget should be up and running now.

  4. Joey Says:

I had this working for a week, but it hasn’t worked now for a week.

Does anyone else have this working???

  5. Rol Says:

no it is not working (server not available) and I am wondering why nobody replies to the entry!!

  6. The Staff Says:

Rol, it appears that we’re going to have to look into some of the page scrapers for the gadget to see if those are causing the outtage.

I had been using this gadget for a couple of weeks then suddenly it stopped working and nothing would load (I think this was the serve upgrade). All I see is the word “Loading” with the spinning arrow. I uninstalled it, reinstalled it, and removed the data file like the support page suggested to take care of the problem. It did in fact work because “Loading” no longer is displayed. This resulted in losing the different markets I added. No big deal I only had a handful. After reinstalled the gadget and now when I try to add any stocks, indices, or commodities in the search all I get is “Searching…” (I walked away and came back 20 minutes later with “Searching…”still displayed). I email the problem to support and never received a response. I’ve been checking the gadget periodically seeing if anything had changed. It has not and I noticed that Build A Gadget monitors this so I thought I would post the issue here knowing that they should get it. Is this problem being worked on?

So, we’ve been down for 2 weeks plus now and all we get is “we’re going to have to look in to it”?

I’m removing this app. Although I love the concept, it’s been down more than up and I want to see what’s happening in the stock market, not guess.

  9. Rich Says:

It hasn’t been working for weeks.. I’ve tried everything in the FAQ (restart sidebar, restart system, persistent settings fix) but it just sits there saying ‘Loading…’ v1.5

  10. The Staff Says:

Hey guys, one of our parsing engines is down on the gadget and causing issues when we bring it back up. We’re working on getting the guy who wrote it in here to correct the problem.

We’ll let everyone know when it’s back up again.

  11. Decapper Says:

Just installed this app and everything looks good expect it wont find and stocks and just says searching…

Program looks good besides that main problem

  12. Corn Says:

Love it when it works. It will track penny stocks and crude oil by region. Can’t find another one that does. I will wait for them to get the bugs fixed.

  13. Roy Merkel Says:

Apparently the app is still busted, I have been trying to use the app all day today, but can’t get any of the search functions to work. Even manually editting the settings didn’t help.

Apparently the http://buildagadget.com/Gadgets/Core/MM/ folder appears to have been deleted. Because all of the pages in this folder referenced in the scripts return error 404. When I went to the folder itself, it also returned 404 instead of a permissions error.

  14. The Staff Says:

Roy, we renamed the folder for the moment as one of the parsing engines has some problems and we’re trying to get the gadget’s creator in to fix it.

  15. Rich Says:

Just tried it again, and it looks like it’s back in business..

    Thanks guys!

  16. Eric Says:

It back in business for a while and now all foreign index like Hang Seng $HSI, Nikkei 225..etc stopped update the data for long time. Others working ok.

  17. Eric Says:

Still not updating the foreign index information? they stopped for more than a month.

  18. Rich Says:

Looks like it’s down again.. I’ve just been getting the ‘Loading…’ message for the past few days.

  19. The Staff Says:

Hi Rick, We apologize for the downtime Market Monitor is experiencing. It is due to a change in our data sourcing. We are currently working on this problem and hope to have it up and running soon. We will post again when everything is back up and running.
