you need to make the instructions clearer but the gadget is great otherwise. i would like to see this thing show twitter updates too.

  2. Shawn Says:

when installing Facebook Explorer 1.0.2 i get the following error generating a login code under Windows 7 RC build 7100: “There was a problem sending the command to the program.”

  3. The Staff Says:

Shawn, that’s an interesting bug, especially since the command to generate a code is a regular HTML link. Hmm… We’ll take a look into it an see if we can reproduce the error.

  4. The Staff Says:

Ralay, which instructions should be clearer? On the Twitter part, we’re building a Twitter gadget right now, just a matter of time before we combine that with this gadget, it will happen if not right away.

  5. craig Says:

every time i copy and paste the login code it says that it is invalid. i am using firefox 3.0.10 as my main explorer and vista Version 6.0.6001 Service Pack 1 Build 6001. can you help me?

  6. The Staff Says:

Craig, try re-adding the gadget to the sidebar to see if that helps. If not, try restarting the sidebar program itself (Right-click -> Exit. Then Start -> Type “Windows Sidebar” -> Windows Sidebar). If it’s a case of traffic not getting out, one of those two should help, otherwise, we’re trying to figure out why only some people are having this issue.

  7. Andy Says:

hey, everytime i want to see my friends status updates, it does not show me on the app i have allowed everything it has wanted but yet it still choses not to work. ive reinstalled it twice and still nothing.

  8. craig Says:

the gadget is still not working, dispite your suggestion. if a fix is developed please post it.

  9. Warren Says:

Hey guys, firstly – great gadget :) although I am having an issue in that I have to generate a login code every time I start my PC. Is this normal or should it save my login?? I’m even needing to re-login after changing the gadget settings. Cheers, Warren

  10. annette Says:

Everytime I try to enter the code that Facebook generated for me, the app says I’ve entered an invalid code. I tried uninstalling and redownloading the program but the problem is still there and I’m quite frustrated.

  11. The Staff Says:

Warren, the problem is probably being caused by data not getting saved. Tough to tell the exact cause but it could either be security or some bad characters. We’ll make a note to look into it when we check the login validation.

  12. The Staff Says:

Annette, we are going to be looking into the login validation on the gadget pretty soon to see if there’s anything we can do to alleviate this issue.

  13. Murray Says:

I’d like to see the “Tallest” setting be taller ;) How about a dragable height?

  14. Jinu Says:

I’m facing the same problem as Warren…….apparently everything was working fine and then out of the blue…..it started asking me 2 enter the login code. I don’t seem 2 recall having done anything unusual until then. Please fix this issue or post a work around a.s.a.p……..can’t live without this gadget..

  15. The Staff Says:

Jinu, we’re still trying to figure out what’s going on with the gadget. We’re planning on releasing a new version at some point today with some error reporting tools so we can start gathering more information on the error coming back from Facebook. Once we have that information, we should be able to come up with a fix.

  16. Warren Says:

Hey guys, following my previous post and Jinu’s follow up I’m happy to report that mine is now remaining to stay logged in. I don’t know why it has sorted itself, but it has. If this changes again, or I come across anything that is relevant I’ll be sure to keep you in touch, Warren

  17. Austin Says:

I really like the layout of the tool, but as a person who frequently checks their facebook, I would like to see maybe some sort of manual update button to refesh the friends page and the comments. Thanks.

  18. Josh Says:

The application works great! I know in my household there is more than one person using the computer and would like to see a way to have more than one instance of the app running, each with a different facebook account logged in. I’m not sure it this would be possible though.

  19. AnnaRita Says:

i cant seem to get my login code.
i dont know how yo get it. can someone please help me out?

  20. The Staff Says:

AnnaRita, click the link next to #1 on the gadget, it should open up Facebook and let you generate a code from there.

  21. Cody Short Says:

How do I place another facebook explorer gadget on the desktop so that my wife and I each have one?

  22. The Staff Says:

Hi Cody, Unfortunately, because of the way the login info is stored (which is what allows you to stay continually logged in and not have to enter your user info each time), this is not possible. The only way you could both have individual FB Explorers open and running is if you set up individual user accounts on your computer. We are looking at options for facilitating multiple users for a future update but it is likely a ways out. Sorry for any inconvenience.

  23. Pradyut Says:

It would have been nice if we could also open up a chat window from within the gadget and have a conversation with any of our friends online…
That way i wouldn’t have to log into Facebook JUST TO TALK ;o)

  24. The Staff Says:

Pradyut, Once we get access to the chat functionality through Facebook’s API, we’ll add it in. However, this is up to Facebook, not us.
