Hello, Your SystemControl-Gadget is very good and i like it very mouch, but in V.1.4.1 the confirmation of powerful commands doesn`t work any more on Windows Vista.
Greetings from Germany, Thomas.
Thomas, thanks for the heads up we’ll check that out and see if we can get it fixed.
Seriously, your pages need to actually display what your applications actually look like, these representative icons are nonsense.
Very handy Gadget, I used to have Shutdown gadget but this is much better and more comprehensive. Thanks!
One suggestions though. The maybe most handy feature is the timer, but it lacks of custom option for command/executable. Just think about the possibilities if I would be able to execute a batch file for example!
Any chance that you might custom command in future for timer? And perhaps also chaining timers?
Hii Ergonpandilus, Thanks for the suggestion. We will look into adding this in a future upgrade. Please let us know if you have any other thoughts/suggestions.
Actually, the right way to do it would be allow users to add custom shortcut for timer. There is already a gadget allows to add links (http://gallery.live.com/liveItemDetail.aspx?li=dd868ac7-d4bc-4e0a-ac5b-acda3fe0264a), so it should be quite easy to implement. I guess it’s okay if I modify your gadget to do that as long as I don’t publish it?
Ergonpandilus, We’ll add something in for this in a future update. The link you posted seems to go to an error page on the gallery, do you have the name of the gadget so we could take a look?
You can totally do modifications to the gadgets for personal use.
Heh, just noticed that the gadget that supports adding shortcut links is actually yours, the Quick Launch gadget.
We’ll see what we can do once the QL gets some work done. Shouldn’t be too hard to set up a custom time shortcut, just a matter of bridging the gap between the user input and the execution command (the command requires flags to be separate for some reason). It’s on the list for the next upgrade though.
Just checking up on this gadget to see how it’s evolved, if any. Bytheway, if you want Keyboard Shortcuts for your Action Timers, you can get my Advanced Control System Gadget. Just look it up. Be sure to get version 1.3.4 and nothing earlier than this. You can shortcut to just about anything, filepaths, files, websites, and/or many many gadget functions.
Cheers
A suggestion: In System Control, you do have an icon to -start- the screensaver… but I’d really like an icon to -toggle- disabling the screensaver. (I still like to coddle my CD/DVD burning hard/software.) Hope you can dis/enable screensaver with -one- icon. ![]()
Thanks for listening.
RpD, if we can find a command that can be executed through the code or a batch file, then we could add something like this in, but it’s very dependent on being able to perform the function using the command line.
Re: command for toggling screensaver.
I googled for “command line to toggle screensaver”, clicked the resulting shortcut for “http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/create-shortcut-icon-to-disable-enable-the-screensaver/” …and, in -comments- section, came across someone’s vbs text snippet for toggling the ScreenSaveActive key (between 0 and 1) in registry… under HKCU\ControlPanel\Desktop\ScreenSaveActive.
Does that help?
I had to edit the snippet in Notepad to replace all the ’strange’ quotes with dumb text double-quote characters, then saved as a .vbs file, and it works in Win 7
… dragged it onto the face of your Quick Launch tool for now. Maybe combining System Control and Quick Launch into one gadget would be an idea for future?
RpD, thanks for the information, we’ll see what we can do with integrating it into System Control in the future. We’ll have to see if the combo gadget will happen, Quick Launch still needs a lot of work.
Hello, I previouly had this gadget showing 12 button, I can’t seem to make it do that in Window 7. Am I missing something?
Set the gadget size to large.
