We apologize for the recent downtime of the Market Monitor gadget. We have initiated a patch fix on the server and it’s now working again. We’ll try to keep it running more consistently from now on.
Let us know if you run into any issues. Thanks.

I like the old one that showed what the market was doing. One who needs to just look up individual stocks will benefit but not the ones who would just like to see the Dow – Nasdaq and S&P.
Hi Jeanne, You should still be able to monitor the indices. You just need to add them to the indices tab. To do this, just click the + sign at the bottom, choose Indices, and enter the index you would like to monitor at the bottom. If you have any problems with this, please don’t hesitate to let us know.
Market Monitor V1.5 stopped working again as of 6-Nov-09.
Great app and am glad the server is now back on-line; however, (running Win7 64-bit) in order to see the data on Favorites, when I boot-up, I must go to “C” (view commodities) to load the data (previously selected data), and then to “F” (view favorites). Any fixes for this? Thanks in advance!
Hi Tom Ray, We are not seeing Market Monitor as being down. Are you still having problems or was it a temporary glitch?
As of this morning, 10-Nov-09, it is working again for me. Thanks for your attention to my previous post.
Like Ray I noticed that the viewing window keeps displaying “Loading…” but when I click on the plus to add something the market items appear there with the current values but never are displayed when trying to view them. I’m using it on a couple of different computers with Vista and they are doing the same thing.
Hi Rob, We will have to look into this further. as we are having trouble replicating the problem. Is this happening all the time or is it off and intermittent?
Hi Eric, Thanks for the feedback. What you are describing could be what some others are seeing as well. It seems like some people are having the issues and some are not. We will look into this from the angle you describe and see what we can determine. We will post when we have some answers. Sorry for any inconvenience.
What I am seeing on Windows 7 x64 Professional is:
I only have 3 indexes ($INDU, $NASDAQ, $INX) entered. I typically have Index (I) selected on the MM screen to show these 3 items. On system startup, MM will set there loading indefinitely until I click on F. Then the load completes and things are back to normal. I set it back to I and it runs fine until the next system reboot when I have to repeat the process.
Hi Tom,
Ref Win7 64 Bit – Yes, your experience is the same as mine. If you send me your email address, I’ll send you a screenshot of my MM on my desktop.
Tom, I have to click on C and then F before it completely loads all of the data.
Rob, just send it to support at buildagadget dot com, thanks.
Sounds like this loading issue is emerging as a common issue on Windows 7 x64.
Is “The Staff” able to reproduce it? If not, is there any additonal info that can be supplied to assist in isolating and fixing the problem?
Tom, we’re looking into it, just trying to gather as much info about it right now as we can.
I have Win 7 HmPrem 32bit… I see the perpetual “Loading” on bootups as well.
Actually, I see it everytime I start the gadget.
I have:
…upgraded to Win7 ‘in-place’ from Vista Home Premium.
…closed MM and restarted.
…closed MM, uninstalled, and reinstalled.
…closed MM, uninstalled, renamed the data folder, and reinstalled.
…finished drinking my strawberry flavored milk.
I still get the perpetual ‘Loading’ when I start MM. I haven’t rebooted after the last reinstall… it did create a new MM data folder, next to my old one, so… why bother.
The one thing that might have terminated the ‘Loading’ was when I added a stock… it eventually showed up the whole Favorites list …without my doing anything else. Playing with ‘Options’ had no effect… still was ‘Loading’.
Now, I’m…
…awaiting new version… in the meantime, I’ll just click over to one of the other categories which breaks the “Loading” cycle and displays what we all know and love. $$$)
BTW, $$$ isn’t the problem (well, not the root, anyway). -Love- of $$$ is the root of all Eeeevil.
Just had to add that.
Ok, I meant to make it clear that, as others have mentioned, all I/we have to do… is click another category (F, S, I, C), and ‘Loading’ goes away and all categories then will show their results.
RD, we’re planning on looking into the MM again. One of our former developers built it and we’ve been keeping it running when it breaks down, but one of these days we’re going to overhaul it and bring it in line with our other gadget code.
I’ve got a new error for you. I sent a support request but past ones I’ve sent nothing came of them.
Error Message:
A runtime Error has occured. Do you wish to Debug?
Line: 533
Error: ‘lastWidth’ is undefined
Eric, sorry about the previous support tickets, we didn’t recieve them because the form was broken, but we have it fixed now. We’ll look into the error, though you can turn off script debugging in IE if you don’t want to see it pop up again.
This gadget stopped working on 06-Mar-2010. This is on Windows 7 x64 Professional.
Tom, we know. We recently underwent a server migration and the MM scripts were deactivated as a part of that. Once we have everything stable, we’ll bring them back online. Should be running in the next 24-48 hours unless we run into a larger problem.
