I tried installing/uninstalling the gadget twice and restarting the sidebar – Nothing is working. Any ideas?

  5. The Staff Says:

gcandelaria, generally if nothing is working, restarting the sidebar should do the trick. Otherwise, try deleting the data files for the gadget (Gadget Settings -> Help -> Bottom instructions) and reconnecting.

  6. Heather Says:

Every time I try to connect, and I go to the sign in page, when I hit sign in FB keeps telling me that I need to be logged in to access these features. Is this an issue with the gadget or FB?

  7. The Staff Says:

Heather, it might be an issue with Facebook, but if you login to the site, will it let you go through with the connect? We’ve occasionally seen a couple connect screens, but never a specific FB screen that won’t let a user connect in.

  8. Baris Says:

after facebook changed its interface, Fb Explorer started not to work. is there anybody know when the new version is coming out?

  9. The Staff Says:

Baris, have you tried reconnecting or restarting the sidebar?

  10. Jeroen Says:

Hi Love the facebook gadget! One addition that would be nice to have is the ability to have a dark and light theme in there to fit it better to the background.

  11. Jon Says:

After upgrading to 1.1.0 it will never display friend activity. I’ve tried deleting the files, removing and adding, reconnecting to Facebook. Won’t work at all. It does show my information however. Just sits at “Check here to display friend activity”.

  12. The Staff Says:

Jon, have you tried restarting the sidebar application? http://www.buildagadget.com/Support-General.php#Topic5

Great gadget.. Nice design too.. Love it.. But would be perfect if it could display notification like when others like or comment on my pictures or stuff..

  14. L. Walters Says:

Fb sidebar app (Vista) has stopped delivering news feeds during evening of May 11. I’ve tried all of the suggested remedies, but nothing has restored the app’s full functions. The Friend Activity side simply sits at Click here to display friend activity.” Even when I tried to refresh, a browser window is launched with a message that I’ve already granted access to the program. I can see information on the Me side, including my status line and message/alert counts.

I’ve also noticed that FB made a minor change on May 11 to the Privacy section. The label change Bio and Quotation (which was once called Bio) now appears under Privacy > Personal Information and Posts. “Favorite quotation” is new for this area, where a FB user can now add a quotation to his/her profile.

  15. The Staff Says:

    L. Walters, we have been receiving a lot of support tickets recently with this same problem. It could very well be something that Facebook changed or maybe a wayward privacy setting that is overriding the gadget’s ability to get streaming data. It’s not happeneing to everyone, so we just have to figure out what changed. Have you recently updated your privacy settings on Facebook?
