We're trying to figure something else to try out. Hmmm... If you've deleted the persistent settings files, check that same directory for an XMDebug.txt file, open it if it's there and comment it here.

Other than that, try turning on script debugging in Internet Explorer and see if you get any kind of error when you operate the gadget.

Other than that, this is just a really odd problem. It could be a number of different things, but narrowing it down is difficult without seeing the machine.

The files are the XML settings for the gadget. Though at this point, I'm not sure deleting those will help, but try it anyways, there are directions on the XM support page.

Also, let me get this straight, the gadget is degrading in functionality over time? Have you looked into your Windows Media Player? The gadget draws off that to play the stream, so if something has happened to your media player, the gadget is going to break from that.

Otherwise, it's a rather odd issue to be having "all of the sudden". Even odder when you consider that the gadget is just HTML / CSS / Javascript, and now it sounds liike it's being attacked by a virus or something.

I have thought of one other detail that may or may not mean anything. Whenever I would bring my computer out of sleep, or do a full reboot, I could see the feed on the gadget but it wouldn't play until I hit "stop" and then hit "play" again. I have obviously tried that ... repeatedly ... and that no longer helps.

nope... no new installations of any sort. As a matter of fact, it was playing fine, I put my computer into "sleep" mode for about half an hour (a common thing for me) and when I returned it would not give me sound... and hasn't since.

What do you mean by deleting persistent settings files?

Hmmm... Short of deleting the persistent settings files, I'm not certain. If the sound stopped suddenly 2 days ago, then there's a possibility it may not even be the gadget. did you install any software, codecs, or utilities around that time?

The sound does not work. It did... then suddenly stopped 2 days ago. I have checked all the obvious things... sound is up on the gadget, sound is up on my computer, nothing is muted. I can hear other music, and other sounds. I can see the feed... all the titles, artists, albums, etc. I uninstalled the previous version (I don't know which it was, but it's the one that DID work), and then installed version 1.4. I've rebooted. I've done everything I can think of! What can i do that I am NOT thinking of???

Try logging in through the website itself and use the online player, just to check that it works. XM requires that accounts activate the online player seperately for some reason. That might be the cause of the issue.

just found this gadget. all i can say is YES!!!

software developer to software developer here are my suggestions

1) when stopped, remove the elipsis :) Just have it say "Stopped" no "..." afterwords

2) add a mute button. sometimes i need to quickly mute at work when listening to O&A in the morning. don't need to break the connection. just want a quick mute.

great gadget. this is what sidebar gadgets SHOULD be. great job!
