We have a new gadget for everyone to check out. It’s a commission project from UnsignedBandWeb.com and the gadget is a radio player (based off our own XM gadget) for their site.
If you’re interested in sampling the independent music scene or curious about some new stuff to listen to, this gadget is perfect for you. With over 50 genres of music with 3 stations each, there’s something for just about everyone.

A few bugs:
When you open the settings, error on line 177, object expected.
When you click check for gadget updates, it states there is a connection problem, my connection is fine. Also the text informing you of this has caps at the start of every word which is a bit odd
Law, We’ll take a look at line 177, see if maybe we can get that fixed up. The updates problem is most likely due to this being a commission project, the gadget owner might not have put the update xml file up on the server yet.
The style thing is just a quirky way one of the programmers type.
Okay cool, thanks for getting back to me
I like this gadget for looks and utility. A few problems: the update issue already mentioned; and my favorites are lost each time I reboot.
Something I would like to see is less channels. 3 channels for each genre is too much. Especially since there are only about 3 songs per channel. They should definitely be combined or have a random button that can play random songs from all genres or picks a random channel. Thanks for this gadget.
Scott, thanks.
On the whole the gadget did come out okay, though you’re right there are some snags. Since most of the files are hosted on UBW’s website, that accounts for the update issue. We’ll take the blame for the favorites loss, we were in the middle of upgrading the XM gadget when this one was built, so it is a little older. The 3 channel thing is client specific, that’s the way UBW actually works. Thanks again for the feedback.
Hi,
I downloaded the UBW Gadget this morning with no problems. It is on my desktop, but I am unable to use it. When I try to get updates, I get a connection problem message. I have an internet connection at that time. When I click to see Channell List, I get a message of “No Current Channels”.
Thanks,
Amanda
Help!
Amanda, try restarting the sidebar application. If that doesn’t work, you may need to try a persistent settings fix. Go to Computer -> OS (C:) -> Users -> [Your User Name] -> AppData -> Local -> Microsoft -> Windows Sidebar -> Gadgets and delete the UBWData.xml file, then re-add the gadget to the sidebar. These are the first things that come to mind to try right now. Let us know if those don’t work. It could also be a temporary outage as the content isn’t being stored on our server.
