Hey everyone, we made a couple quick updates to the XM gadget recently to address a couple issues that cropped up. Here are the details:
1.) Channel Rebuilding in the channel flyout (when the original build channels doesn’t fire) should be working better now.
2.) Flyouts have a self focus timeout now that should help people who have to click the flyout twise to get it working.
3.) Favorites issues should be resolved at this point. If you have a bad favorite, it will be removed when the favorites are built in the channel flyout.
Also, just got an update to the channel list done this morning:

other versions worked great but this one wont restart the stream after sitting idle for a while
I also posted this on the main 1.7 page…
I have Vista and had the XM Online Radio for several months and love it. However, today I started my computer and got no sound. I cleared the persistent files with no luck. Then checked for updates and installed the updated 1.7. I removed it from the sidebar, restarted and reinstalled it. Now I enter my credentials, click Login and get a red, “Connection error”…any ideas?
Thanks.
Matthew, we’ll look into that.
Frank, try restarting the sidebar again and see if you still get the same issue. Seems odd that it would continue to do that, are your other gadgets able to connect to stuff online?
Unfortunately, every time I get on my PC after a period of inactivity, I have to remove and reinstall the XM Gadget for Google Sidebar b/c there’s no sound. I love the gadget, but uninstalling and reinstalling everytime I want to use it is beyond annoying. Is that why Google keeps removing it from avail. gadgets?
The gadget was working great, until recently. I’ve uninstalled and at re-installing using the most recent install file and it gives the following runtime error:
“Line: 141
Error: ‘System.Gadget.document.XMMediaPlayer.settings’ is null or not an object”
I choose not to ‘debug,’ and the gadget appears in the sidebar, but with no sound. I’ve rebooted the laptop, but can’t get it to work.
I’m using Vista. Any ideas? Or has anyone else discussed this or a similar problem?
Thanks!
Sorry,
Ignore my previous rude comments, turns out it was a problem on XM’s side.
Apologies,
J
I miss my gadget (sniff, sniff)
I have no sound from the gadget…was working just fine. Now, I have no sound. Play button is pressed…looks like its playing but no sound. Tried the persistent settings fix…tried uninstalling/reinstalling …still nothing.
Any suggestions would be great.
Colt, try restarting the sidebar application itself, if that doesn’t work, try disbling Windows Defender to see if that helps. The no sound issue usually occurs when the system stops trusting the windows media player in the sidebar. It’s a bug in the sidebar that hasn’t been addressed yet, we’re still looking for ways around it.
Weird problem that started a few days ago. When I go to log into the gadget, I enter my credentials, the Login button lights up when I hover over it, but nothing happens when I press it. I have rebooted, uninstalled, re-installed, closed sidebar, opened sidebar, etc. Any ideas?
Absolutely love this gadget. I helps get me through the day. Thanks so much!
David, try restarting the sidebar application itself. It sometimes glitches up on the login (still not quite sure why), but should be pretty easy to fix.
Where is the channel list updated at? I’d like to listen to the new channel 51 and the seasonal channels.
Jeffrey, You can update the channel list either by re-adding the gadget to the sidebar or clicking the XM logo on top of the gadget and selecting the Re-Build Channel List link.
However, at this time, the channels have not changed for a little while, 51 is AC/DC and none of the seasonal channels seem to be up yet.
I am attempting to listen to channel 39 - Led Zeppelin channel but your gadget won’t find this channel even though I can play it online. Can I manually add this channel somehow?
VW, Channel 39 should be there now, just re-add the gadget to the sidebar.
Thank you
