System Monitor 1.0 Gadget

Posted in Development, Gadget Stuff

We’ve been working on some new stuff lately and one of the new projects is System Monitor, a customizable set of monitors packed into a single gadget that allows you to get a heads up display of what’s going on in your computer. There are even some networking tools in a secondary tab. The gadget is a little simple at this point, but the interface is different than most of the other monitors out there and we are looking at ideas and feedback for improvement.

Features:

  • 6 Different system monitors
  • Networking tools in second tab
  • Fully configurable. Add, remove, move, and configure monitors at will
  • Size auto-adjusts based on configuration.

If you like this gadget, let us know. If you run into any issues, also let us know and provide any details you can about the problem.

For the ip address, you have internal and external, althouhg my machine is a desktop and has no wifi on it, any way i can pick up the wired connection??

  2. The Staff Says:

Micah, It’s something we’re keeping an eye out for. For some reason, Microsoft never encoded the wired IP address into the API. There is probably a way to get it by creating a custom ActiveX object, though that requires that the UAC be turned off.

If we find a good way to get that info in the future you can bet we’ll add it into the gadget.

  3. Micah Witt Says:

Grrr, Darn you Microsoft, thanks for the update, let me know if you get anything, also, I will keep an eye out as well.

    Again, thank you.

  4. Ben Says:

    1. The gadget shows no wireless network on vista laptop, yet I am connected (and have wireless IP address).
    2. Add CPU meter and you covered most monitoring.

  5. Ben Says:

    2. .. i meant multicore

  6. Ed Says:

I enjoy this gadget, thanks for all your hard work.

I only have one request, could you add a LAN bandwidth meter to it?

  7. Kev Says:

on the battery meter, it shows how much power i have left and an odd time next to it, i thought it would be the time until my laptop would die but it stayed the same even when i plug my charger in

  8. The Staff Says:

Ed, We’re keeping an eye out for a good way to do the bandwidth meter.

Kev, We’ll take a look at the battery meter and see if there’s a problem or if it’s just a glitch.

    cool gadget, though

Would it be possible to add multicore prosessor to it?

  10. Robert Says:

Love this gadget - please update to address the following issues…

Dual Core - CPU graph shows half of what the CPU % shows.

Battery - Always says 1:49 minutes, regardless of how full the battery is.

Option to show/hide the digital time (so if someone is using another clock gadget, the space for the time is not needed)

    Thank you!

  11. Jorgen Says:

Internal IP dos not show pleas add internal wired IP
