Gadget Status: Market Monitor

Due to a recent server migration, the Market monitor gadget may be non-operational for a little while. We shut the server side scripts down in case they caused an instability with the new setup, we’re looking to have everything running again within the next 24 to 48 hours.

Update: We turned the scripts back on temporarily and the server almost died. Market Monitor will be down for a while longer as we look into the efficiency of the data gathering. It’s possible that we may need to release a new version of the gadget as well if we end up rebuilding the server side scripts to use different formats.

We will update this post once the status changes.

Date & Time 1.2.1

The latest version of the gadget is an emergency path of the time zones list as a recent Windows update changed the numerical IDs for the various zones.

Recommendations:
• Make sure you have all of your Windows updates installed.
• Download the latest version of Date & Time and install it.
• Go into the gadget settings and change the time zones of your clocks back to where they were.

Blogger Buddy 1.1.0

We did some tweaking to the Blogger Buddy gadget recently, mostly to re-write the code and try to account for the errors people have gotten trying to login and see their blog to post on. The new version is the same interface, but we cleaned some stuff up and made it more compatible with Windows 7.

The 1.1.0 version of the gadget includes better error handling and logging, so we can track down problems people are having and try to determine the best way to fix them. It’s always tricky trying to fix remote problems that we can’t replicate in the lab, so this version should be able to not only help with that, but we also fixed the view links for blogs (no more going to an odd, obscure XML page, yay!), and added in a lot of try catch code to handle individual error cases (hopefully this means that more blogs will show up for people).

As always, let us know if you run into problems and we’ll see what we can do. And before someone suggests it, we did check out tagging for this update, though Blogger’s API was being sporadic on it, so we decided to leave it out for now. We’ll try to revisit it for future updates once the rest of the gadget is more stable.

Fb Explorer 1.1.0

After a couple weeks of testing and feedback, we’re moving ahead with the release of the 1.1.0 version of Fb Explorer! We hope you enjoy it and do let us know if you run into any iussues or if have any requests for future updates.

Fb Explorer 1.1.0 Open Beta

We would like to invite anyone stopping by to try out our latest update before it officially hits the internet. This is a pretty major update of the gadget that fixes lots of problems as well as adds in some new features like adding likes and comments to posts in your feed.

We’re looking for any and all feedback on the gadget. If it breaks, tell us how, if it’s working flawlessly, let us know. Go wild, have fun, and post up your experiences.

XM Online Radio 1.9.1

Today Sirius XM changed all of their player links and broke every 3rd party player in existence. Every. 3rd. Party. Player. We were not happy and neither were quite a few of you who wrote in. We have good news though, the 1.9.1 version of the gadget switches the links and player around and should work for everyone. We currently have the Vista version up and running and the Google version should get fixed pretty soon as well.

Fb Explorer 1.0.7

Facebook recently changed their live stream feed structure and threw the gadget off. This patch corrects the attachment checking in the feed so that everything should be working as normal again.

Market Monitor Online Again

We apologize for the recent downtime of the Market Monitor gadget. We have initiated a patch fix on the server and it’s now working again. We’ll try to keep it running more consistently from now on.

We’re launching a very large update to this popular gadget and when we say big, we mean it. DST support? You got it. Multiple alarms with date options? Bam. Set alarms with your events, no problem. We even tossed in a snooze button for good measure.

Changes:
• Backend rewritten for efficiency.
• DST Support fully implemented.
• Multiple alarms with date options implemented.
• Alarm flyout redesigned.
• Events now have alarm options.
• Snooze button implemented.
• Analog clock options implemented.
• Font size and color options added.
• Added additional date and time formats.
• Fixed timezone list to correspond to specific zones.
• Added title attributes to labels that cut off.
• Added 24 hour time options.
• Added 5 brighter themes.
• Bell icon highlights when alarm goes off.
• Additional date validation added.
• Event upgrade options now delete the old file upgraded from.

Note: If you have clocks set to non-local timezones, you will need to reset them in the gadget. We corrected the time zone list so that everything is no longer being indexed by timezone offset but by it’s numerical code in Windows.
