XM Online Radio 1.1

Posted in Gadgets, XM Online Radio

We’re releasing a new version of the XM gadget.  Version 1.1 will hopefully take care of a few problems that people are having, but at this time, I can’t guarantee it.  Because the machine that I’m building and testing on doesn’t get these problems for some reason, I’m relying on all of you (yes, you), to help me out by telling me if this thing works out okay or if I need to keep digging to try and find more potential issues.

Version 1.1 Features:

  1. Improved Stability (Hopefully).
  2. Improved Re-Login Function.
  3. Improved Help Panel In Settings.

It’s not a huge patch, but with any luck it’ll cure at least a few of the current issues, and with a lot of luck, it’ll get everything working the right way.

If anyone uses FaceBook, we just released an application called ToyBox.  ToyBox allows you to add more content to your profile, similar to a really lightweight CMS.  You can do anything from rants, poetry, prose, links, Amazon lists and items, and more!

We just launched it so we’re working through streamlining the app to make it better and every so often, we’re adding themes and more boxes and what not as well.

Features:

  1. Up To 5 Custom Boxes For Your Profile
  2. Multiple Box Types (Write, Amazon, More Coming Soon!)
  3. Multiple Themes (7 Right Now, More Coming!)
  4. Top 10 Lists
  5. Full Help Guide
  6. Easy To Use
  7. Full Ajax Saving For Easier Editing

XM Gadget Support Stuff

Posted in Gadgets, XM Online Radio

So we’ve gotten a few comments (okay, maybe more than a few) about the XM gadget’s stability over time and how people have to reset the gadget constantly to make it work.  We are looking into that, it’s most likely the re-login function not working properly and hopefully that should be fixed by the time we release the next version.

Currently, if you are having issues, try:  Re-Adding the gadget to the sidebar or Reinstalling the gadget and resetting the persistent settings in the Settings panel.

If those don’t work, there is one last thing to check:

Go to Internet Explorer->Tools->Internet Options->Advanced->Security->”Do not save encrypted pages to disk”

Make sure that is not checked.  I repeat, do not turn that on.

It would seem that the IE7 security settings do have a big effect on gadgets and how they store and use information.

So if you are having trouble with the gadget, make sure to try everything on the list.  If it’s still not working after that, keep playing with it, and or let me know here and I’ll see what I can do to help.
